The City2Sea Fun Run 2015 Volunteers

The City2Sea presented by Westpac is on the 15th November and has been an annual event for Melbourne since 2011 and is now part of the Run Out Loud series around Australia!  

The race location starts in Melbourne CBD and makes it's way to St Kilda via Albert Park. The races consist of a 15km race and a 5km race which have the same route, but the 5km race doesn't detour through Albert Park.  


Volunteering for The City2Sea guarantees your group a ‘per-volunteer’ donation of $30 - $75! (Dependent Upon Volunteer Role)  

We are currently asking Community groups and charity's around Melbourne to get involved in volunteering for various roles across the course. Below are just a couple of examples you may like to choose from.  

It is a very fun team activity that will largley benefit your run club in the long run.   

We encourage volunteers of all ages, although some may be small we just ask to have an adult supervisor at all times.  

Just a couple of benefits of volunteering include; a free event specific volunteer T-shirt, snack for event day, certificate of appreciation, new friends and much much more!  

Free parking is also available at the event for all volunteers this includes mini bus' if needed.  

Role Examples  

Course Marshals  

This role has a donation amount of $75 'per volunteer role filled' and we currently require 50! If your group can provide a couple this is still very helpful. Please note you must be 18 years of age to volunteer at this position.  

Number of volunteers required: 1-50  
Start Time: Approximately 5:30am,   
What does this role entail: Course Marshals are very important to the event. Each individual marshal is allocated a particular and very specific intersection along course to manage. Volunteers will direct runners on that intersection to ensure they do not run off course. It is also a great opportunity for volunteers to cheer on runners as they come past.   

Baggage Collection  

Number of volunteers required: 1-10   
Start Time: Approximately 6:00am,  
What does this role entail: Volunteers will collect baggage from participants and label accordingly.  

Drink Station

Number of volunteers required: 1-40
Start Time: Approximately 6:00am, 
What does this role entail: Attending one of our drink stations along course to build and manage the station, and hand drinks to runners as they come past.

Headband Distribution

Number of volunteers required: 1-10
Start Time: Approximately 6:00am, 
What does this role entail: Volunteers will distribute Run Out Loud Headbands to all participants before race start.
